THE PALM GROVE AND THE JEWISH KASBAH
We are just steps away from one of the most beautiful Palm Groves in Morocco. We can recommend a guide who will show you the way around and talk about the special ways of growing crops near a desert, irrigation techniques, the work of gardeners. The tour ends at the centuries old Jewish Kasbah.
THE MONTAIN
This walk, in the early morning in summer or late afternoon in winter, offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the valley and the desert. The summit is reached after about 1 hour walk on a comfortable path that starts 1.5 km from Villa Zagora.
THE SOUK
It is held twice a week outside of Zagora, on Wednesdays and Sundays, from 9 am to 13pm . It is a very large traditional souk where you can find everything , fruits and vegetables , woodwork , carpets, clothes, jewelry, antiques, pottery etc …
THE TAMGROUT LIBRARY, THE POTTERY AND TINFOU SAND DUNES.
The library has a collection of ancient books and manuscripts brought to Tamgrout by Ahmed Ali Ansari Al Tamgrout during the 17th century. It is one of the richest collections in North Africa. Ahmed Ali Ansa Al Tamgrout, theologian, famous scientist and physician with a passionate interest in diseases of the soul and other mental disorders, had the great ambition to contribute to the education of the shepherds and farmers of the Draa.
The pottery workshop is one of the last still producing artisanal pottery in Morocco. A very interesting tour. The Craftsmen will be happy to show and explain how they work.
The Tinfou sand dunes, are 5 kms south of Tamgrout and offer stunning panoramas at sunset. The views from the top of the dunes are magnificent.
OULED OTHMAN AND THE DRAA’S VALLEY
LYBICO BERBERS ROCK ART OF FOUM CHENNA
Accessible by 4×4 , this site is located in the Draa Valley , on the right bank of Oued Draa , about 8km from Tinsouline on a caravan route , 1h30 from Zagora. Located in a beautiful desert landscape, this site offers numerous Lybico Berber engravings of hunting scenes , fighting horsemen with javelins , scenes of everyday life, as well as symbols such as snakes and scorpions.
